I went up to fit a few more trim pieces and found it outside.

If I had any remaining doubts about the Tempest Grey before, I don’t anymore.

It just shows how colour perception is governed by the light source!

Looks absolutely spot on from that picture!

The strange thing is, I couldn’t get a photo of the whole car to show the true colour of the blue!

Even the grey panel at the back looks wrong. Normally, the colour balance is usually very good in awkward lighting.

I also noticed that there are two washers can be seen stuck over the bumpers offside bolt hole. The nearside ones are stuck to the bumper itself!

It’s getting close. I hope to pick it up towards the middle of next week, on a DRY DAY!

A few things have been fitted temporarily, to ensure it’s both legal and watertight

I’m hoping that it may be ready for POL.

If not, what dates did they use Flame Red 89 in preference to just Flame Red.
I will want to make sure I get the right Flame Red for my car when I get round to getting it resprayed at a future dste
Just hijacking this thread. Yes, Flame Red '89 was the correct shade for the Rover R8 in Flame Red. No paint you can buy today is Flame Red '89. It's all mixed to another code - possibly COE. Only Halfords seemed to know about Flame Red '89 and they purged that paint from their catalogue about 18 months ago, so you can't get a colour-matched mixed-to-code aerosol for flame red R8s any more. Try ordering from any supplier - any number of them on eBay or elsewhere and you get another flame red that's way too bright to be used on the cars. It may very well be COE or the original flame red that pre-dates the range entirely. No-one has any clue what the correct flame red code is for an R8.

It's looking fantastic. Certainly better than my effort!

They certainly appear to do a good job. Terry the owner, has also said to bring it back should I find any imperfections, even if I cause them during reassembly!

You should also note that the colour code for Tempest Grey II on the lower half of the car is LOQ and the colour code for the Tempest Grey I plastic trim is LOG. They're different colours - very close, but not actually the same. Therefore, don't worry about a slight mismatch!

I’m very happy with it. It may be a very silly question, but if LOG is the code for the plastic trim, is it actually possible to mix paint to that code? 🤔
