Hi Vinny

It’s discontinued on Amazon! Looks like they’ve stopped making it. I have seen it on this website but I have no idea if this is a legit website

If you search for ASIN B000HBGKWE you may find other suppliers. I’d recommend watching the video on YouTube on how to use it. I followed the video and it has been perfect. Many people slated it on Amazon but I reckon they chose a cold day, used too much glue or didn’t leave it 24 hours to set before attaching the wire.

Good luck!

Sounds great Paul - would love to meet up. My pal in the village is now hankering after a 216GTI - people seem to love these cars!

I do need to find a new heater matrix though. My car is at best like warm in the cold weather. Wondering if the engine is running too cold though as tickover remains stubbornly high.

Quick question… what thermostat should my 420GSI have? Is it an opens-at-88 degrees one? I ask as the car sits neatly with the temp gauge never getting above 1/3 (albeit never moving once there) and the heater is a tepid at best. Wondering if it needs e.g. a 90+ degree one. Thoughts anyone?

If it’s the right one does anyone know anyone with a spare interior heater matrix and controls?

Have you flushed it through?

I’ve changed the coolant but not flushed it. Could this cause the low temp?

If the heater matrix is clogged to any degree, then quite possibly!

Good call. Of course - not thought of that. Will get it flushed. Thanks for the tip.

Put a hose pipe on it and flush it both ways if you need a matrix I have some and controls .

Hi there. I’m definitely interested if you’re willing to sell. This evening I turned the slightly stiff air-direction control which now spins uselessly. Also my temp adjuster doesn’t quite go full blue to full red. On the plus side the fan speed works!

I shall try flushing. Assume the pipes are easy to find in the engine bay?

Maybe you need to fish the whole heater unit out and clean & re-lubricate the moving parts (vanes etc.)!
A lot of it is worked by wire-in-tube (low-cost Bowden cable principle). You'd probably find disintegrated
foam gaskets as well.

The pipes are the only two going through the bulkhead. Could be fun getting the hoses off - if you're too
brutal, you might be back here for a replacement control valve. Might turn out to be safer to unplug the
hoses at the engine end, put a bung in any surplus ends to stop water just by-passing the heater loop.
