There’s been some talk of resprays on here recently - it seems the figure is anywhere from £3k to £5k
Extra? It doesn't need it, just a clean I just thought it might look nicer
That won’t even be a bare metal job either for that money!

Paintwork (and crucially, good quality paintwork) costs. The adage “Cheap, quick, good; pick two” is never more appropriate than when discussing bodyshops!

A high quality paint job takes a lot of prep time, and time costs. Someone quoting a grand for a respray will leave you with a rubbish looking car at the end of it.
I get that the paint isn't bad I just was curious how much it would add

When/if I get the car done, it is the mainly the mechanicals I am worried about

I know I have asked this before but I genuinely would like to know how much a full restoration on a R8 would cost now? Before I was asking because I was curious but now I have passed my driving test I would like to know. Because it has been about 21 years since my R8 has run. I want it to be my first car after seeing the cost of insuring it, it will be not extortionate compared to 20 year younger focus. It needs a full mechanical overhaul, drivers window reinstalling. The full works basically

That really is a “How long” involving a piece of string question unfortunately; depending on the mechanical issues and bodywork necessary, any corrosion to be dealt with and the standard of finish you desired (concours would be substantially more than “useable”, for instance).

You’d get wildly different prices depending on the area of the country, the ideas/opinions of the person giving the estimate and to what they consider is repairable versus replacing.

It’s impossible to give anything accurate without seeing the car.

I wouldn't want it concourse unless I could afford it I just feel like considering it has survived cosmetically without too much damage except when some sods used the bonnet for noughts and crosses using a rock

Without reading the whole thread again:

What’s the mileage?
How long has it been laid up for?
Has the engine been turned over or started regularly?
Was it regularly serviced when in use?
What condition is the bodywork in?
Do the wheels need a refurb?

You’ll probably find that the greatest cost is going to be bodywork and paint.

Even a set of 4 tyres for starters is going to be £250 minimum.

38k from new
Last started 2002
Nope not started
Regularly serviced
Body work no rust or dents just scratched bonnet from two sods used it for noughts and crosses using a rock
Wheels need refurb but I was thinking of buying some nice alloys and getting them refurbished instead.
Paint doesn't need doing it's more I would want it done if the money stretched
