I don't think we are far off. I really need to get one fully installed in a car and tested for a while just to be sure.... its tricky for me as I don't actually one one, my own coupe being a 1998 model

..still need to work out the costings.
@rjessett I sent you a PM a few days ago but you may have missed it, some additional thoughts on your work and bits of R8 history to get you going...
Thank you! just found it - Will give it a read, digest, and get back to you. Very interesting!

OK -

We still need to undergo some final testing (test car hopefully comming soon) but we have a price.

At this stage, it includes full fitting, supply of conversion loom, 5AS Alarm Unit, 2 fully refurbished Lucas 17TN or 3XTB fobs, programmed with EKA code. Support for Flashing indicators (connected at owners request) and fitment of a passive coil (as fitted to post 98' R3's). The kit includes a diagnostic connector, so you can use a T4, Pscan, etc, to programme fobs at a later date if needed

For Members of the 200/400 and Rover Coupe Owners Clubs, the price is £187.50. Non-members the price is £197.50 The price includes full fitment, and 1 years warranty

We are only doing the full fit at the moment, including fitment. One day, we might do a self-fit kit, but not at the moment to honour our warranty

We may also do trade ins for 5as alarm units, or fobs, but , again, for warranty reasons, we will be supplying units pre-programmed.

My Turbo is refusing to start, so didn't make it to the NEC :slapme

Once it does, probably with Richard's help, we'll get one of these kits fitted :thumbup

Richard and I finally did a trial installation of this kit on my L-reg Coupe on Saturday and it went very well.

Image

We had to remove the centre console to access the existing 14VT control unit for the IR CDL system and then look for a position for the 5AS unit.

Everything plugs in very neatly

Image

We initially hoped that the 5AS unit would neatly fix to the back of the centre console but the connectors fouled the relays so we placed it in front of the gear lever and angled the white unit's fixing tang up slightly so it all went in

Image

A bit of laptop jiggery pokery told the unit where it was and things were working !

Image

We worked out that my car has 2 broken door switches, a broken driver's door CDL motor and a broken boot lock microswitch but, apart from that, everything works 8)

That includes immobiliser and EKA code entry.

Would love to see this being made compatible with earlier cars who had no IR at all, such as mine :-)

The conversion kit is now in the RCOC club shop

There are two options, one is just the cable (if you already have the 5as and fobs you can use) the other is everything

https://store.rover-coupe.com/new-parts ... cable_only

200/400 members get £5 discount on the above - codes in the usual place, or pm me for it

Thats a really good price considering NLA old kit was £150 on its own.
