As for people wanting “lesser” models, I’ve found that all R8 variants are quite sought after. Some people like the lesser specced models and don’t dismiss them. However naturally the higher the spec the higher the value.
However pricing is really difficult with R8s!
I’ve seen SLi specced cars being advertised for £2k+ and struggle to sell, and a well specced SEi with only 19k on the clock only managed to make £440 on eBay recently.
Similarly you would think 216 GTi’s would command a high price, but struggle to go for over £1,500 and more realistically sell around £1k as a rule.
As usual, the market decides but there is definitely a price ceiling for R8s and it’s not high.

Just reopening this thread to see if there are other items that should now be added.
There's a good reason for this...

I am a 44 year old mechanic, trained on Volvos mainly. I've had many rovers over the years and worked on and serviced all sorts and still restore mostly 1960s to 1980s cars for fun. I've had this 214 for about 10 years and done everything its needed until this problem. I am however not an auto electrician and that may be where the fault lies with this now. I'll change the crank sensor on it again but after that I won't be spending anything else on it and all the new parts I have put on it can go off to help other people out.
