Re: The ROVER-CX8 Cabriolet Project
So I have now purchased a 1.8 Turbo Engine from a 75, only 65k on the clock, coolant is clear of oil and
the oil is clear of coolant, was heard running too and ran sweet.
I got it CHEAP too as some are being sold as a bare engine for upto £500 but I got EVERYTHING on mine,
manifolds, turbo, A/C pump, MAP sensor and a few other bits and bobs including seatbelt lifting straps.
It will be mounted up on my engine stand and that is where is will stay for a while getting cleaned up
and checked over, it probably won't be in the car for a while as I need my garage bult first but at least
I have it, I was going to upgrade the 1.6 to MEMS 3 and throw 135 cams in it but why go through all
the effort of doing the MEMS 3 and not take the opportunity to upgrade the engine further, the 1.6
will not go to waste as it is a nice engine and will be a handy spare if needed.
Had the stand for ages, finally put it together.

You'll need uprated 25mm ARB bushes prior to fitting now as well.

Re: The ROVER-CX8 Cabriolet Project
I know, just as well I didn't buy any, seen some genuine ones on ebay but like you have already
told me just get them all in bulk in one go, plus before I order we could do a campaign a month
before and see if any one else needs owt and get it all in one go.

Re: The ROVER-CX8 Cabriolet Project
Can't believe its 7 months since I updated this.
No progress on the car, turning a nice shade of green *laughs*.
BUT the hunt for parts continues, should have an OMP front Strut Brace on the way to me before the end of next week,
myself and The Almighty Dist did almost 500 miles today to give Kev Willis a visit and he hooked me up with RARE dark
door cards and quarter panels from an early Cabby so I can ditch the beige, we also got Coupe side rub strips so once
painted the cabby should look tasty.

Re: The ROVER-CX8 Cabriolet Project
The WINNING keeps on coming, I acquired a dark Cabriolet interior the other day and I also managed to get a dark
leather rear seat too, the seat if from a Coupe but the Almighty Dist says it will fit the Cabby, it just needs a little
persuasion.
I have made the most of a couple of quiet nights at work to strip them down and give them a thorough scrub down,
the old Mould and Mildew spray I bought years ago never fails to clean up trim that's been sat around for a while, it
all still needs the AutoGlym treatment, Trim and Dash Care for the panels and the Leather Cleaner and Leather
treatment for the seats but that can get done another day.
First things first, I stripped down and cracked on with the Drivers Door Card as it was the worst one of them all, it
is the only one I did before photos for just to give you the idea.
So that's the drivers side done, very happy with how it came out, Passenger door next.
Looking good, staying with the passenger side, time to make a start on the rear quarter panels.
......and finally the drivers rear.
Next up was the rear leather seats, they were not too bad but the cloth said otherwise, the water was
black when I finished, but again I am very happy with the results.
I have two cloths for cleaning up at work, amazingly the whiter one is the one that cleaned everything up.
Must be the bleach in the Mould remover.

Cheers mate, thanks for giving us a lift getting them out the car and riding shotgun, any excuse for one of these though.
