Hello from Wakefield.

#1 Post by WakeyMike » Mon Sep 27, 2021 6:11 pm

I've finally joined. Almost 2 years since getting my 214SEi, and despite it having the forum URL in the back window, I've never actually signed up.

I bet Paul_1978_yorks got excited when he saw Wakefield, but we already know each other via Facebook, and the car has been posted here in the past so some of you may remember it. (Here it is)

So, I'm Mike, and we bought our 214SEi a couple of years ago. She's called Rita and is my wifes (Lauren's) daily.

When we got her she had 41,000 miles, but now has 53,000 miles. Her head gasket was replaced about a year ago, and she's had a new clutch but she's given fantastic service over that time. She was also used in a music video along with our BMW E36, but that is now unavailable on YouTube for some reason. It broke down in the video and the singer rescued the girl.

As mentioned in the link at the top, she still has the parking dents. We had a dent man out to do my Z3 and has given a quote for Rita, so she will be getting done in the next few weeks. There are a couple of rust bubbles that need sorting out too. We are going to take her to the place Paul took his in Cleckheaton. We have no other plans than to keep her standard and as mint as possible.

So I am looking at the first picture and reading Hi I'm Mike and trying to work out if the lady or car is called Mike, I should have scrolled quicker.

Welcome

My dad lives in Wakefield, no idea what he does up there as he's an Essex boy *laughs*

Michael and I have met before, but the strange thing is despite having almost identical cars and living 2 miles away from each other, have never passed each other in the street in our cars!

Whereabouts in Wakefield does he live?

I’ve been all over the UK, and spent the first 23 years of my life living in Bradford. Having been in Wakefield now for 20 years I have to say it’s quite a nice town (city!) to live in!
