Hi everyone, thank you for accepting me in to the group. My admiration for the Rover marque goes back a long way, having restored a '67 2200TC many years ago. I currently own a 1998 420 which was destined for the crusher! It had been left in a garage for approximately 6 years after the elderly chap who owned gave up driving. However, with just 35,000 miles on the clock and the leather interior like new with all the electric windows, aircon, cruise control etc I couldn't let it go to the scrapyard. A deal was done and I re-commissioned it with a new cambelt, new tyres, brake discs and pads, all fluids flushed and replaced, then MoT'd with no issues. It's now a cracking car, starts instantly on the button every time and runs as sweet as can be and I have now covered about 16,000 trouble free miles with it prior to lockdown. I have to admit that as a qualified motor vehicle engineer I hate to see things that are repairable thrown away or scraped, it simply grates with me! *laughs*

Congratulations on saving such a rare car :clapping

The HH/R 400 series is often overlooked and not many people realise how well-equipped some of the higher-spec versions are.

And the T-series is a fantastic engine :cool

The next edition of The Viking contains an excellent article written by one of our members on 24 years of driving various HH/R models. It will be published next week.
