Re: 216 Gti dohc ALB system
That's really interesting John. It is certainly on advice from people here (possibly yourself, it was some time ago) that I reverted it to non ALB. It has been pointed out to me that maybe I should have told the insurance company though! I have to say I found it stopped pretty well on the standard s...

216 Gti dohc ALB system
I have passed my 216 Gti to a fellow enthusiast locally who intends to bring it back to original spec over a period of time. I ended up having the ALB system removed from the car as it proved impossible locally to find the tool for bleeding it. (there is a thread on here about way back!) Unfortunate...

Re: 216gti tc cambelt
Thanks both, I searched on cambelt, should have thought to put timing belt :-)
I will order today, I don't trust garages to get good parts, they just get the cheapest!

216gti tc cambelt
The time has come for the cambelt and water pump to be replaced.
I'll get the garage to do it but I wondered if people have preferred makes of both kit and pump?

Re: Random wiper activity
Front wipers yes, I should have said that!
Thanks 1234, I'll get the manual out and have a gander at the weekend, I'm not big on electrics though!

Random wiper activity
Just recently my '91 216 GTi has developed a habit of turning on intermittent wipe randomly, mostly when it is not raining!
Any ideas anyone, do I need to make a trip to the scrappy for a "new" part or is it more likely to be electrics?

Re: Honda ALB
Hmm, well, the inability to find the special tool led to the abandonment of the ALB system on my 216 GTi. It still stops pretty sharpish when called upon, but I do try not to drive "on the edge" in my old age :-) I took the view that as it was an option when the car first came out then Hon...

Re: Two questions please
Thanks all for your help. I took the inserts as well as the head restraints so I should be ok there and I'll go and get some silicone spray to start with on the window, hopefully that will sort it as I hate getting the door cards off!

Two questions please
1. I have a 1991 (J) 216 gti TC. I think it really ought to have rear head restraints when people sit in the back. I have liberated some form the local scrappy but before I make holes in the top of the seat backs does anyone know if all 200's have the steel tubes in the rear seats that the plastic b...
