Where is the starter motor?
1995 416 SLi (Saloon & Tourer)
2003 45 Imp Diesel (plus spares car)
2004 45 imp Petrol
1993 416 GSi - spares

Underneath the air filter box.

So easily accessible from the top of the engine bay with no need for going under the car to remove or service it.

Thanks for that. I did look there but thought it too small to be the starter motor!

Anyway, after some fettling, I don't think the starter is the problem.
