At the age that R8's are at, check brake pipes for corrosion and check the rear bush in the trailing arm as that is a favourite failure point.
Check for corrosion to the sill ends and inner sills at the back.
Make sure the exhaust doesn't leak and that the screen. Check all the lights and front wipers/washers work properly (remember the rear fog lamps are tested but the reverse and front fog lamps aren't and neither are the rear wiper/washers.
Brakes must work well and not pull to one side. Same goes for the handbrake.
The whole list is up on the web somewhere (MOTtester.co.uk or something like that).
