Been at it again yesterday and I've still not fixed it :sad

Got the bleed screw released and the new pump running but no fluid is sucked out of the reservoir, hence none is ejected through the bleed port.

The new pump sounds remarkably like the old pump as neither starts to 'labour' if they were building pressure. Wonder if I need to 'prime' the pump...

Hi John,

You may know this by now, but fault code 1, pump motor over-run, usually means the pump is seized, and depending whether you're unlucky, the motor may have burnt out too.

You may just need it bleeding. The socket underneath the seat is used to plug in an electronic devise when bleeding the ALB system. Another special tool is also needed when bleeding which looks like a much deeper master cylinder reservoir, connected somewhere either at the pump or near the master cylinder.

FYI - Early 216 and 416's with ALB system have a diagnostic LED visible in the boot behind the offside boot lining. From around 1993 the Honda ALB system was renamed ABS6 and the warning light on the dashboard changed from ALB to ABS. The system was the same but the diagnostic system changed to the two pin connector you found in the green foam holder at the back of the fuse box under the steering wheel. So the fault code on cars from around 1993 will be a flash sequence on the dashboard but early cars will show a flash sequence on the LED panel in the boot.
