Bubbles

Post by Paul_1978_yorks »

What's with the increasing number of posts about Rover bubble shape 200s?

I'm a Rover man - but a Rover wedge man - and I hate Rover bubbles. Horrible, cramped things!

Cheers!

Yes there are lots of bubble owners out there.

Remember the 400 bubble hatch is virtually identical to an R8 200.
And the 200 bubble shares the front half of the shell with the r8 too, (they just use maestro suspension at the back where they hacked off the back end!)

ah but, the home page states "The Rover 200 and 400 Owners club is the UKs only car club for the Rover 200 Mk II and 400 Mk1 cars produced from 1989-1999"...
'93 Rover 420 SLi in Nightfire with that bonnet hump
'79 Leyland Princess in a sort of white
'96 BMW 523i in that Panama Brown Metallic
'84 Alfa 33 QO track car in-build ran out of money again

Exactly, I want to read about R8s! Not interested in bubble shape 200s.

It's like going onto a MkII Cortina Owners Club forum and seeing people posting "Look at my IV"! Half the people won't be bothered cos they're only interested in Mk II Cortinas!

Maybe time for another Forum (under General?) called "Bubble shape Rover 200s" if we're going to let 'them' post - that way all the people interested in R8s can read about R8s, nothing else!

nice i see there is a hitler on the forum im sorry but i signed here as i assumed i may get some useful advise from fellow rover owners but if im going to be an outcast for owning a "bubble" then i will just bugger off.
Not meaning to sound like im bitching off but i personally think the above post is very childish.

Im not really bothered to be honest about what cars are talked about. I own a wedge and always get help with it on the forums. If someone can help with the bubble shape rover then post and ask cus you wont know unless you do. I personally think that anyone with a rover no matter what shape or size should be able to post and ask for help and advice or just general chat about them. I know the site is primerally intended for the Mk2 200 and Mk1 400 but seeing that there is an increasing rise in the later model owners posting then it might be a good idea to have a bubble 200/400 model forum :)

Yeah! Send all those Maestro back suspension owners to the Russian Front ! :D

I jest, of course.

I don't think the statement above was particuarly childish or dictatorish IMHO. :S

Seriously, the site is an R8 site and that's why I come here and not an R3 site. It states what it covers on the home page, and the banner and menus reflect this. If it was to expand to cover 200/25 R3s then it's going to have to rewrite/rebuild for 400/45 H-HRs and Mk1 200s and the Honda Ballade too. Then where? It will become bloated with Maestro owners and Perkins/L-series diesels lovers. Then maybe Montegos, Itals/Marinas, Allegros and maybe even Morris ADO16s. If I wanted all that, I would go elsewhere.

Spiritually I think the first step would be to look at all 1988-1994 Honda Concertos and Civics, covering the mechanical and platform ground together.

If thats what people want then I can add one. :)

The R3 debate I can see will come up time and time again and as Dan says they do share parts. So if we can help them technically on here then I don't see a problem. As you say perhaps a dedicated section if people would prefer?

The club however is to cater for R8s, it is my passion and I am sure quite a few other peoples on here.
