if you would like an engine on the stand again iv got a std 220gti M16 engine that could be used

We might have space for it - would you be 'doing stuff' on it? This show is more 'doing' than 'polishing'

Regarding the 216GSi resto (Simon's car), I've been in touch with Rimmers to see if they'd help us with parts and I'll approach some cleaning products companies to see if I can get them to help too.

The parts list is currently:

Driver's door mirror - elec, black early type
Service items for a Honda 1.6 - plugs,belts, filters, oils, wiper blades etc
Exhaust manifold gasket
Centre caps for 14" lattice alloy wheels
Battery
Brake pads and we may need to look at the rear calipers

If anybody can donate any of the above it would reduce our 'ask' from Rimmers .

The seams on the leather rear seat are also coming apart, as they always do. I know a good local leathersmith who's into his classic cars that I'm sure I could get to come to the show to repair this if we give him a ticket.

It's coming together !

If the plane is to change the cam belt make sure who ever is doing it can remove the crankshaft pully bolt. Cus it's tight !

I have a electric Clark knock knock gun, but I haven't tested it against such a formidable opponent as that bolt. Book gives a figure of 140 foot lbs I believe . I suspect it ain't coming off without using the factory flywheel locking tool.

As the D16 is a Jap engine and runs backwards I have wondered if it's a left hand thread? I expect that one of Beef, Dist John or Paul can answer this question?
