Having taken some advice from Mike Humble about how he got his engine bay looking so clean I'm considering buying some Traffic Film Remover and some hydrochloric acid from Jenny Chem.
Unless anybody has some in their garage and can get it to the NEC for the show or to somebody who is going to the show?
We might also need a replacement boot carpet in ash grey and boot board if anybody has either of them spare...
Will post some more pics shortly

OK, I have ordered tickets based on the following:
Friday: John, Alan, Simon, +1
Saturday: Jeremy, Duncan, Simon, +1, Nigel, me, Kevin M
Sunday: John, Jeremy, Howard, me, Simon, +1
That leaves us with one spare for Sunday as things stand at the moment, although we are in the process of trying to get a few extra passes from the organisers

Good luck to all involved with this, I look forward to some before and after pictures! I'd hoped to be able to help out but we are away on holiday.
What's going to happen to the car after the show? There was a suggestion of a raffle at some point wasn't there?

Paul, Jeremy and I went down to R8 HQ yesterday to see Simon, friends AND the resto 216 and it's a fine project car, in a good way!

It's going to need a lot of elbow grease and Traffic Film Remover to get the mould/moss of the exterior but underneath that it looks fine - it even has a new'ish exhaust.
Apart from cleaning and a good service we'll attempt the following jobs at the show:-
Bleeding the brakes
Replacing the sagging headlining
Changing the exterior mirrors
Changing the front mudflaps
Lubricating the door hinges, straps and electric window mechanisms
Try to work out why the aircon doesn't work ( lack of gas?)
We're in need of a few parts too which are listed in a separate thread for prominence - http://www.rover200.org.uk/forums/viewt ... 35&t=10592

Re: Practical Classics Restoration Show, NEC Birmingham, 31 March-2 April 2017
The nice guys at Dodo Juice have offered the following advice:-
Might try Autoglym for their bumper gel next....
And above the products are on the way to us for the showI would use Traffic Film Remover for a good once over as this is more concentrated than the APC and good at removing moss etc. Use it neat and repeatedly as the paint can’t get much more ruined, so you might as well run the cleaning processes as heavily as you need to. We’d advise caution on a brand new Subaru with black paint, but this isn’t the case here!
Release the Grease is then perfect for any oily bits.
Carpets, use Total Wipe Out – maybe opt for the concentrate and use it in a wet vac (a few capfuls of conc in the water reservoir should work well).
