I should add that it's a brand new starter motor assy...

Don’t discount new parts failing. The quality of new stuff lately seems to be horrendous! Definitely worth half an hour to remove and test.

Sun and extra hands have finally coincided :cool

So, I took the spade connector off the starter solenoid and during crank it continues to show c.0.7v

I did the old -ve terminal off trick, which brought the alarm warning light on but the fob took it off, to no avail. :sad

Am I now at the point where I need a Pscan/T4 to find my EKA code? If so, does anyone in the Midlands have one and the time for a trip to Warwick sometime please?

I’ve PScan John, if it can wait a week or two I’m sure we can sort something out.

Sometimes repeatedly pressing the fob buttons alternately re syncs the fob with the car-my 214 needs this trick occasionally when the battery is disconnected. The immobiliser code rolls but the fob doesn’t keep up!

That's very helpful, thank you. I'm not going anywhere else yet :laughing2

In the meantime, I'll see if there are any any closer and I'll press my fob a few more times now it's working - it does take the alarm light off already though...

What’s Craig’s verdict? :)

He recommended the Pscan route :cool

Although the starter relay inside the car is making a clicking noise, John, it doesn't necessarily mean this is allowing the relay contacts to 'make' effectively and deliver the required voltage and current to the solenoid. Try swapping out the relay for a known good one.

Incidentally, does your car have the Lucas 5AS system, or is it the older infra red fob? (fob has a red LED on it and the interior light has a dark 'lump' covering the receiver).

There's also a second immobiliser relay in the circuit that cuts power to the starter relay - I suspect it that that's clicking...

Being early car I'm on the older infrared system.

I now have a couple of offers of Pscan help :clapping

I already said, if it wasn't the fact i need to use mine daily i'd have already posted it.
I'm suspecting it to just being an imobilier fault.
