I assume the wiper motor is more likely to be culpable than the relay/MFU. New Brushes perhaps? Also would this be an MOT failure.

The wipers work ok on Normal and Fast wipe.

Yes it'll be the motor at fault. It is the park sensor in the motor that has gone faulty. So the wiper control unit doesn't know when to switch off so the wipers park at random on the screen. This isn't an MOT failure I believe (as really old cars didn't have self parking wipers!).

It may be possible to repair the faulty contact inside the motor, but I swapped mine for another one when the problem happened on ours.

Took the motor off, drilled the rivets and it was exactly in the picture with one contact burnt away.

Simple solder with a bit of copper wire and hey presto all is back working properly.

Got through MOT first time, just needed a new driver mirror as the plastic film one put on a few years ago after the original was shattered had deteriorated.

Changing the Anti-roll bar link rods at £3 each plus VAT has made a major difference to steering stability, cruises at 70 with no steering wheel vibration.



I've had this 7 years now and paid £340, it had only done 45K. I do as little to it as possible and it keeps going!! most reliable car I've ever had since 1981...!
