Just fitted my decat and my cat had collapsed and partially blocked the exhaust, the car is now much more as I remember performance wise! :D I have noticed though on full throttle there seems to be a slight hesitation, but if I just let off a little to say 90% throttle car boosts perfectly, any ideas?

I was at Cadwell park last night so a good run out for the car!

Afternoon gents

So the car has done around 500 trouble free miles. Took it out today as the othe half had used it a few times and reported a "noise"

Anyway it sounds as if it has a straight cut gearbox now, a god awful whine in most gears :laughing2

The box was bought some years ago from Rovertech, its a PG1 gold label mg montego turbo box and I did have it apart and all seemed ok

So does anyone have any clue what would cause this?

I have a 51k 220 nasp pg1 in storage which would be "ok" as a temporary fix and for pootling to car shows and the such

Does anyone have any links to any rebuilt boxes, or any pg1 alternatives?

eg zs 180 etc etc

Many thanks as always

Vinny

That sounds just like the gearbox in my 220 nasp, its been whining for 30k and has only got a bit worse in the past 5k. Mine was due to leaking driveshaft oil seals as the car was off the road for about 7 years.
I think a ZS 180 box will fit but im not sure if the ratios will suit the turbo. If you need a PG1 rebuild manual send me a PM.

So upon further inspection its tinkled all of its gearbox oil out, well virtually all.

Explains the noise,

how?

600 trouble free miles, new seals last summer.

I have my original 50k nasp box, which would be ok for light driving for now!

thoughts?

Did you use the correct type of driveshaft seals?

As above and it doesn’t take much to damage the plastic ones while trying to get the drive shafts home, especially when done on the driveway.

Finally got round to fitting the replacement alternator after about 5 months. Forgot what a great job it was :laughing2

My little helper on hand as usual.

She loves fixing cars :laughing2

Even gave the ZS and MG3 a wash :D
