Recommended Paint/Bodyshop

My 1990 216 GSi Auto needs a partial respray to sort out a few minor cosmetic problems, although the majority of the paint is in excellent condition and only needs a good machine polish.
Given how good the original finish on the R8s is, can anyone recommend a bodyshop who can reliably replicate the original paint finish and colour shade? I realise that the paint will have faded over the last 30 years, but I would like to keep it as original as possible.
I have seen Silsoe Classic and Modern mentioned on the forum, but they seem to delight in producing a finish better than the original. I don't want that!!!!
Incidentally, I parked next to a BMW Mini the other day and the finish was appalling. I don't if it was original, but the orange peel was so bad, it looked as though it was finished with a rattle can.

There's a fascinating article about to appear in the next edition of The Viking about painting an R8. Jonathan used Auto Repaint in Brierley Hill.

I had work done by Silsoe Classic and Modern but they mainly did bodywork repairs and there was only minimal visible paint work done.
But I would suggest that from the areas of visible paintwork the finish would be highly reflective if it was on the whole car.
If you find one I'd love to know the details if they are in the South - West Region of the country i.e Bristol or westward.
Since being in Devon I've contacted 6 or 7 places to try and find someone to do some small paint jobs. The main job is the bonnet which has probably a dozen tiny "hailstone" dents in it.
I'm hoping to purchase a new bonnet and get it resprayed complete as I think it might be quicker and cheaper for them to respray a complete bonnet inside and out rather than spending hours filling and flattening.
So far I've only had replies from 4 and 2 of them are so busy they are only interested in full respray or complete nut and bolt renovation job
The rest didn't both replying.
Good luck with the search

I've just used KC Autocolours in Witney for a roof respray and A-piller/rear quarter on my anthracite ZT 190. It had some awful lacquer peel on it previously.
Im totally over the moon with the match and finish. I do have an eye for these things, and this is, well, perfect. Just what I hoped for.
I was recommended them by a chap on the 75 Forum , who kindly let me see his cars that were done by them.

Our paint shop uses a digital paint code scanner so the match is guaranteed but there is obviously costs incurred with technology.

That sounds expensive. I’ve just had my SEi painted - upper and lower tailgate, wheel arch repairs on both sides replaced with new panels, front wing repaired and painted due to dent, respray down one side due to lacquer peel etc, bumper scuff painted, sill painted. Total £640. This was at a place in Cleckheaton near Bradford.
I’m pleased with it.
Obviously I had to spend some money on the repair panels too…

You are very unlikely to find anywhere to do it for that price "down south".

The quote I had from Silsoe Modern and Classic in Bedfordshire was for £5k for a full respray up to the door jams. Thought it was expensive at the time but I’m now looking in the South West for someone to do the work. No estimates from this area yet

Prices for a full respray at the place I used near Bradford started at half that!
