Rover t16 turbe engine cut!!!

Post by coupeman »

Hi can anyone help please??

I am new to this forum and am having problems with my 220 turbo!!
Under hard acceleration when I boot the throttle, I experience a problem with what seems to be the turbo cutting out! Like momentarily hitting a brick wall!! The turbo seems to be boosting fine. My dad is a mechanic and he seems to think that the people who owned the car previousl ha d a re-con turbo fitted and that the vacuum pipe routing was put on incorrectly! Can anyone help with a diagram or somewhere I could get one!!
We have tried the rotor arm and this is not the culprit!! Just a shame cos its a lovely fast car but the cut out is so violent it jolts the car! At a loss to what it could be!!
If you could help it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Woah stop right now! It sounds like you are experiencing boost cut. :scared

Has it got an aftermarket boost controller on it, or has it got the original boost control valve?

You need to get a boost gauge on there to find out what it is boosting at. Maximum reccomending is 11.5PSI.

The ECU cuts the igntion when it sees a boost pressure over 14.5psi as a safety feature. This is known as boost-cut.

Double check that the actuator pipe is not split as this can cause boost cut as well.
