I understand that my forthcoming Rover 216 will ether have a DOHC or SOHC engine in.
What is the difference and how will I be able to tell which one I've got?

In the pics above, none have ALB or ABS fitted.
Hopefully yours will look like that!
The SOHC has a non-standard, cone air filter fitted - the standard set up looks the same as in the DOHC pic.

Very - Did you tell by the engine mount?

Cheers guys - I've seen a pic of the engine and it's a Honda SOHC. That's fine by me as I drive like an old man anyway (even though I'm not!)
How can I identify this ABS unit then, and whether mine has one or not?

The most obvious sign is that there is a big hydraulic unit with a second brake fluid reservoir sitting just rearwards of the battery - you won't miss it!
The brake servo, master cylinder, brake valve and engine-bay brake pipes are different too.
Thought I had a photo handy which would show it but I don't - I'll have a look in the manual.
99% chance that yours
won't have it

Thanks for all your help John! Getting the train to pick the car up and got a 4 hour drive back in it. I'll no doubt be taking some pics either on the journey when I stop for a brew or on Friday morning.
Catch you later :-)
