Our 414 (being an export model) had the "Japanes" style one in painted plastic (it was a Saudia Arabian spec car with square plates)..

This is the best shot I have of it handy - it had a square number plate aperture, rather than a rectangular one.

Great looking 400 you have there. That full leather interior on later R8s seems very rare indeed.

One question: What size tyres are on there? they look like 185/60 or even 65? I guess this improves the ride no end?

Just bought my third R8, a 220 sli with 10k miles and full leather option from new. My previous car was a 414 sli. Both are 1994; the 220 first registered in November and the 414 March IIRC. The specs vary as follows:
414 - full metallic paint, colour-coded bumpers and mirrors. Centre console with high armrest. Radio-cassette fitted as standard (not sure of model). Steel wheels.
220 - nightfire red over grey, grey plastic bumpers & mirrors. Centre console without armrest (although it was never much use to me in the 414 as it was too far back for my seat position). R950 radio (which is marked "cd changer" but there is not one fitted). Rover alloys.
I found it surprising that the later car had the non-colour-coded bumpers, mirrors and lights and no centre-front arm rest. It's a beauty though and I'm delighted with it so far.

That's down to the difference between 400 and 200: The 400 got the full color paintwork, the grill, the centre armrest and the deeper bumper before the 200. See here: http://www.aronline.co.uk/r8galleryf.htm

Thanks for that Alexander - the differences are much clearer now!
BTW does "threelitre" refer to a P5? Interested as I have a P4 as well.
