Re: my 416 gti project something smells bad.

Post by gbs100 »

hi i have not used my gti since getting the 414 on tuesday.it had been a sunny yesterday so when i opened the drivers door to get in and move it i was met by what smelled like a cross between sour milk +sick .so i had no choice but try and find were the smell was coming from .the first thing i did was remove the rear seat and look what i foundit smells worse than it looks there was lumps of green mould rotting food etc.so after a good clean.
i then turned my attention to the carpet when i lifted the rear mats ouy i found more green mould. so seeing as i had to take the seats out to restitch them i also removed the carpet as well.a am going to take the carpet to work with me tomorrow so i can steam clean it.

Looking really nice gbs. The stitiching in my GTi has split in the exact same place, i think its something to do with the type of leather they used. I swear reading somewhere that it was bull leather or something......

Re: my 416 gti project.burst water pipe.

Post by gbs100 »

well after nearly 3000 miles of trouble free motoring my 416 has sprung a water leek .
it has a pin hole in the metal bypass pipe that runs underneath the inlet manifold.
so i rang my local rover dealer +rimmer bros who both told me they are no longer being made. part no fdu1774 .so i am now waiting to hear from a mate who works for a honda dealership to see if he can find one for me.
