Re: Automatic transmission fluid ?
Hi,
I always use Unipart Hondamatic Transmission Fluid 96 ATF which is a 2.5 litre bottle. It can be used to top up or refill a Honda auto gearbox which is also powered by a Honda engine. The part number is GUL2122 or the later part number is GUL2922.
The gearbox holds about 5 litres but only around 2.4/2.5 litres will drain out as most is held in the torque convertor, so unfortunatley it's not posible to completely
drain the gearbox. If the fluid is really filthy all you can do is drain and refill it, run the car around for a bit and then drain and refill it again in the hope you are dilutting the dirty fluid.
How many miles has it done?

Re: Automatic transmission fluid ?
I've got a few autos and one has now done 147,000 so they are fairly strong but things can wear. The new fluid is Ribena in colour so see what comes out when you drain it. It should just look very dark red when you drain it.
Make sure the container you drain the fluid into is clean so you can see if there any bits at the bottom.
When you refill it, make sure the funnel you use is totally clean and not contaminated with any old oil or bits as auto boxes have to be kept very clean and bit free.
