R8 brakes should be excellent.
My 214SI had a brake overhaul 2k before I bought it and I'm impressed with both the brakes feel and performance.
The service history shows new front discs and calipers fitted at 58k.
In fact the brakes feel as good as those on my 10k MG ZS and that has discs all round, ABS and EBD!
Get those brakes sorted Jim, - before it's too late.. :(
