I purchased the car advertised as spares or repairs having been stood for a number of years. I have welding to do on both sills in order to get it through an mot. I was informed the HG may need attention also so have been investigating this today.
A compression test showed 16 bar across the cylinders so that seems ok. Oil needed doing and was very black. Thankfully no signs of water in it.
I'm getting no steam from the exhaust just a bit of water however it's not been up to temperature for some time. Condensation hopefully.
I have the fan constantly running so that's next on the list.
It does look good. The interior looks very tidy. Looking forward to read about the progress.

Very tidy motor - and I think a black car with proper preparation always looks something special (and of course very easy to match and maintain the paintwork) and with the abundant weath of knowledge in The Club sorting the engine and mechanics will be an absolute cinch!
Check if you can when the cam belt was last changed and if in doubt and you do consider replacing it, I'd suggest you go the whole hog and replace the head gasket whilst your at it - and bung plenty of Forte injector cleaner in the first fuel-up!!
