Hello Everybody, New Menber Here

Post by CharlieTheCivic »

Hello all, I'm Jack and I just joined a few days ago. I own a W reg Honda Civic (Rover 45 Shape) which has been family owned since new. The car was purchased by my granddad over 20 years ago and has been passed down to me this year after he stopped driving. It is still totally original as well even down to the security etched glass. I look forward to attending meets and shows to meet you all and share my passion for old Cars with you.

Regards, Jack.

Welcome, lovely to see a car that’s remained in a family!

If you’re going to the NEC classic show this weekend pop by our stand and introduce yourself. :)

The theme for this year's Classic Motor Show is "Part of the Family" - this car and owner qualify on 2 counts :cool

Thanks alot everybody! The car looks better in the photos than in person, there's plenty of defects in the paint etc but I do my best to keep it shiny. It's getting some rust repair on the arch and sill early next year but thanks to my granddad looking after it, nothing until now has ever needed to be done.

I'm really looking forward to meeting you all and attending meets in the car 👍👍

:welcome

I think this might be our first Civic in the club! (I own one, but it's a later FN2, so doesn't really relate to the Rovers!)

We also have a couple of Concerto owners in the club and the Honda variants of our cars are more than welcome to come along to our events.

Really pleased to hear that you have enthusiasm for your grandfather's car and you will be doing your best to preserve it (check out the front footwells where they join the sills and bulkhead, as this is a common area for rust on these cars when they get older and if you can catch it early, it will save a big welding job later).

Thank you! Yeah I loved it pretty much straight away and knew I had to rescue it and keep it. I've had the car up on ramps and also had the side trims took off and everything is pretty good except the passenger sill and arch, the drivers side is a few years off. Probably get it booked in after Christmas and keep it in the garage when there's salt down, it's all good fun with these old Cars haha
