The 1.4 16v MPi is a pretty high power motor for its size anyway, even by todays standards! So you aren't going to get a lot of extra power out of it without spending a lot of cash and if you were going to do that you may as well get a 1.6 or a 1.8 instead. is there anyway of getting more power out of the 1.4? Ive got a K&N induction kit.
And can I uprate the head gasket? Just so I know it'll not fail etc.

No as far as I'm aware. It is there to protect the engine, So I'd leave it alone. If you want abit of extra power why not fit a stainless exhaust which will make it breath better and add a K&N induction kit or panel filter (Which goes in the original air box) these will make it sound and run bet...
