Re: Interference
That's interesting, as I've had exactly the same problem on a couple of occasions. It's easy to leave the boot not fully closed. Unlike the other courtesy lights, this one isn't on a timer, just a simple on/off switch and will flatten the battery in a couple of days. After the last flat battery, I c...

Re: Interference
I did have an occasion 10 years ago when the battery wasn't getting enough charge from the alternator and eventually went flat. In this case the alternator was working well enough to turn off the alternator warning light but was only delivering about 10 amps, not enough to keep things going. That wa...

Re: Interference
The battery is relatively new and the voltage is good, although I've had batteries that don't last as long as they should. The interference is odd, but could come from ignition. Must be something draining it when it's standing. Try putting an ammeter in series with one of the battery leads to see wh...

Re: Front Brake Hose for 1990 214
Maybe not as the fixing looks like it's crimped onto the hose, or there is possibly another joint in there. The stainless steel hose appear to be a continuous hose with a grommet on the hose and a couple of hose clips to fix it in position. I was thinking of fabricating a bit of metal to fit round t...

Re: Front Brake Hose for 1990 214
Had another look at this and think I might try the stainless steel hoses. Seem to have some advantages plus they are made to order rather than being NOS. I'll report back on this thread in due course and let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
Hugh

Re: Front Brake Hose for 1990 214
Thanks. Apologies for this thread appearing twice, not sure why, but I must have accidently submitted it twice. The slightly later one is more complete. You wrote "SHB10001EVA is the direct supersession from GBH251, so looks like that part number is the one to buy. 859 doesn’t supersede to anyt...

Re: Front Brake Hose for 1990 214
Thanks, Stan. I agree, most modern brake hoses use M10 fittings so they are likely to be compatible (3/8" UNF for old stuff). The main thing I could see about these front brake hose alternatives is the fixings. For example the hoses on my car have a fixing roughly halfway along the hose which b...

Front Brake Hose for 1990 214
Does anyone know about the interchangeability of the front brake hose on Rover 200 models. The original part for my 1990 214 is SHB10001EVA. Quinton Hazel have a similar part GBH251 or 859. I've also seen BFH4638. These also fit Honda Concerto. Some sources suggest SHB100760 which is specified for 1...
