Not quite sure what to do. This is Norway so labour is expensive. Should I sell the car to a wrecker and cut my losses. Had this car almost three weeks now: New exhaust, New coolong fan, short circut in cooling fan system and now a timing belt ... Should I buy a reconditioned head plus gasket set pl...

Timing belt 200 - 214si

My timing belt went today

What roughly is required to fix this?

I assume a new head but it is ususal that the main block needs work as well?

The car is currently being towed to some random mechanic 300km from here by our equivalent of the AA. He was the one who diagnosed the problem.

Finally, does my engine have the "ball bearing" that is in in the inlet manifold and is reached by taking off the pipe to the overflow tank. One of the Rover forums talks a lot about this ball-bearing. It apparently often gets stuck with gunge and blocks coolant from entering and leaving t...

Thanks.

Up until now I thought my R3 214si was available with a Honda engine but I now understand that only Rover engines were used on the R3 (bubble) shape.

Any rumours about whether the new owners if Rover (NAC) will continue the 200 - 214 model?

Rover model overview

The 200 214si rover is my first step into Rovers. I don't know too much about the model range nor model history. Does there exist a short history of the rover 2n/2nn model line? I have a 214si. It is a 5 door hatch but doesnt look like the sedan of other 214's I have seen pictures of. I have seen pe...

Bleeding cooling System on Rover 200 214 si

Hi, I have just installed a new Radiator into my 214si as the previous one leaked. I did not have the correct workshop manual and as I was to lend the car to my brother for his two weeks driving holiday I quickly filled the cooling system by: * pouring coolant into the top hose of the radiator * pou...

Thanks for the good advice.

I am still curious about my original question. Is it possible to put a Honda engine into a 1996 214si 200 which is currently a 1.4l Rover K engine?
Where can I find out how?

Exchange engine. Honda for Rover (K)

I have been doing alot of reading about Rover K engines constantly blowing Head Gaskets, whilst Honda engines are reliable. Is there anyone or anywhere with an overview and detailed description of what needs to be done (step by step guide) to replace a K engine with a Honda engine? Can someone suppl...

problem with cooling fan blowing fuse in low amp circut of relay is now sorted. The cooling fan was faulty. It drew too much current and was blowing the fuse .. but it still "worked". The previous owner had wired in a solution such that the thermo switch was bypassed and the fan otherwise ...
