Before I ended up spending more money and considering I cleaned out the intercooler etc I thought I would try an Italian service. That did the trick and I have now regained the power I thought I had lost. Thanks for everyone's input.

As far as the air leak is concerned have now sorted it and am embarrassed to say it was simply the top seal on the fuel filter had twisted and got pinched. Thanks for the comments about the engine swap but in the meantime I still need to use the car so any ideas about the air in the fuel as its frustrating as hell.

My local Halfords usually stock 2 x Tahiti Blues but the one which seems to match closest is Tahiti Blue 1993 which seems to match previous posts. Depends how weather beaten your existing paint is.
