Re: Bumper Rubber strip clean up

Well the pencil eraser trick worked for me :)
Removed most of the white marks left from not being careful enough with the polish. Needs further treatment to sharpen it up a little bit more but pleased with the result

Re: Bumper Rubber strip clean up

According to an internet search, you can do it using a Pencil Eraser. There's a YouTube video showing it seems to work, some positive comments agreeing on its efficacy but one-or-two saying it didn't work for them. Haven't tried it myself but I will. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUyjrubOCOA That...

Re: Bumper Rubber strip clean up

Thanks for all the recommendations.
Will have a look through all the products suggested and perhaps trial one or two.
I'll even try doing half the trim so I can photo before and after treatment .
Thanks again

Bumper Rubber strip clean up

Anybody got any tips on how to clean or blacken the rubber strips on my bumpers. I think they are discoloured with polish. Tried using Auto Glyn Vinyl and Rubber care spray but it doesn't really get rid of the white marks.
Anyone found a successful solution?

Re: Powderham Car Show 2026 July 11th-12th

I’m attending this show with my local club, Torbay Old Wheels Club (TOWC). Not sure which of the 2 days I will be there but will post that nearer the time. I believe another member with a red 216 coupe will be there. I know it clashes with the event at Gaydon but please say hello if you are attendin...

Rimmers Part Drawing Removal

It appears that Rimmers have moved their assembly drawings for the early R8 variant. All they appear to initially show is a list of parts . You now have to click on one of these parts to see the diagram and the list of part numbers. Disappointing and pointless change in my opinion . Perhaps its beca...

Re: Rover 214Si 3 Door Rubbing Strip Removal

As yours is a three door I’m not familiar with the arrangement on the rear quarter panel . On the 400 and 200 5 door there is a little piece of trim on the edge of the wheel arch. I did replace this many years ago. If my memory is right there is a plastic insert in the bodywork and the trim piece ha...

Re: Rover 214Si 3 Door Rubbing Strip Removal

Yes rustproofing is my final job. I have replaced the electric window mechanism , the door handle and the rubbing strip plus a new membrane . The door handle and rubbing strip were better condition than the ones on it ( look like new ) although there is a difference in the shade of both items. Hence...

Re: Rover 214Si 3 Door Rubbing Strip Removal

Just done this on my car . The best way is to remove the door card and the membrane . The rubbing strip can then be removed by removing the single screw and compressing the other plastic clips with a socket. I think if you pull the rubbing strip from the outside you may break the rubbing strip where...
