Re: Where have all the Metro (owners) gone?

Thank you. I did spot the Facebook page, but as you say, there hasn't been much activity there either. It does seem that owners of R8, R3 and related cars have a serious Rover habit, so I may post on this forum if I get stuck with something. If I get told off, I'll have to stop it! It's a bit sad th...

Where have all the Metro (owners) gone?

Hi, Recovering from the loss of my Tomcat this year (circumstances), I took on my Mum's 1990 Rover Metro 1.1C, which is something of a project (it's a bit like a Tomcat, maybe?). I've got it running again - tank full of very stale petrol drained, carburetor cleaned, new pump fitted and bingo. Then M...

Re: Rover 25 Rear Wiper Motor - Washer Blocked

Thanks guys for all the useful comments. It does seem to be a design weakness with no obvious fix. I've tried carburetor cleaner, which is about the only thing I have to hand with any pressure in it (I couldn't get a seal with a tyre inflator). The washer is now working, but I don't know whether it ...

Rover 25 Rear Wiper Motor - Washer Blocked

I'm having a recurring game with my son's rear washer function on his 51 plate 25 1.4 Impression. The washer system is all fine and dandy, right up to the wiper motor. The problem is, the water path from the plastic right-angled fitting through to the top of the wiper spindle keeps getting blocked. ...

Re: Quick Release Battery Terminals

Plus 1 for John's (Johnny 216GSi ) knurled knob (ooh err, missus) terminal. I've used one on my Coupe for several years now, as the alarm system will flatten the battery on an unused car in around two weeks. The car isn't used much over the winter months and this constant drain (and associated charg...

Re: 216 1.6 k cabriolet drained battery after driving

There are probably broadly two reasons why you have got this problem: 1. The alternator isn't charging the battery. 2. As just suggested, you have a serious constant load on your electrical system. (Number 3 would have been a duff battery, but that appears to have been eliminated by the new battery ...

Re: What is my car trying to tell me?

When my son bought his Rover 25, it always needed a bit of throttle pedal jabbing to get it to start from cold (not unusual for an engine with carburettors, but weird for fuel injection). Long story short, come winter time the car battery died and had to be replaced. From that point on, the car has ...

Re: Which coolant sensor? 1995 214 16V cabrio

This might be another red herring, but you seem to have eliminated the temp sensor(s). When I replaced the throttle body on my 1.6 coupe, the car had a really fast idle when first started (way over 1000 rpm). I googled around and found some references to a throttle position reset. I'm not sure where...

Re: Which coolant sensor? 1995 214 16V cabrio

Hi Bill, I have a 1997 216 Coupe and my son has 2001 25 1.4. These are obviously later than your car, but as you've had no other replies so far, I offer my experience for you to consider. The Coupe had recently problems with the temperature gauge (not something you can live with if you're running a ...
