Rover 416 Auto HHR 1998
Can anyone tell me if an 049 size battery will fit the above car?
My old battery died tonight and I hitched home so cant check it and I need to buy a new one before returning to the car.
Thanks

Re: Which kind of brace struts...
I recently fitted a Dark Ice / DGMRS rear strutbrace to my HHR 400. Massive improvement to the handling. I had suffered what I thought was body roll despite using uprated springs and bought the strutbrace which immediately gave a firmer flatter ride. I believe the chassis had been twisting before bu...

Re: Rover 400/45/ MG ZS
A few weeks ago now, I fitted a Dark Ice Designs or DGMRS upper rear strut brace to see if that improved matters. It is certainly not a lightweight item but this has, at last stabilised the rear of my HHR 400 almost negating a thicker lower rear arb for road use. The bodyshell must be extremeably fl...

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
At last, the Wontolf H1 LEDs proved to be hugely unreliable due to overheating issues and were promptly junked. The best bulbs I found for me were legal, Philips Whitevision Intense Xenon Effect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmZSsysjTLg The final piece of my handling jigsaw came together when I a...

Re: 216 coupe ride height
I'd check that the 25mm front anti roll bar and 20/22mm rear was fitted before changing tyres or springs along with poly-bushing the drop links. I would suggest wheel/tyre upgrade next to check clearance between wings and tyre tread. If you use 16 inch wheels , test fit and measure the wheel arch to...

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
I have been experimenting to improve the front headlights and have found that 'Nighteye' H7 Led give me the best combination of light, whiteness and upper cut off to stop glare to oncoming drivers. I tried Philips Racingvision +150% before that and although they gave me vision ten yards further ahea...

Re: The Hunt For Driveability in a 416
I have come to a conclusion regarding my suspension. The 2021 HHR 416 is about to fitted with stock ZS180 front springs complete with 10mm spacers on top of Bilstein B6 front shocks . I had tried so many variations to get what I wanted but the limiting factor was always my 16" Hairpins and 50 p...

Re: MLS - SAIC Head Gasket
Ap[ologies for the delay replying.
I had raised liners.
Seems I was wrong about compression being down due to overly thick head gasket.
The car seems to go very well.
The five layers must compress very easily. together with the higher torque setting.

MLS - SAIC Head Gasket
I just fitted one of these K series five layer metal head gaskets.
They are 2mm thick.
Hope they dont turn out to be made of Chinesium too.
