Just had a look at the e-book that John posted the link to regarding his restoration of his 216Gti.
This is a very impressive and comprehensive.
A lot better then shoving all the old MOT's etc into a folder. Well worth a look.

Re: Window regulators - doing it neatly!
Wow. Used the technique as described and it worked a treat. Can't understand why I didn't think of this myself. A much cleaner outcome.

I have just been doing this myself.
Never thought of using a heat gun to remove the factory applied adhesive. Would of saved a lot of wasted time and mess!!!

Nice work. Like the photos showing the extent of the rust.
I have a similar 1997, 5 door Civic 1.5Lsi rotting on my drive. Has gone in similar areas, rear arches and rear sills etc.
I still give it a wash every so often. One day it will receive some attention.

Definitely get on the phone and get a replacement.

I have used a device called a CTEX MXS 5.0 battery charger/battery conditioner on my cars for several years. This device can be permanently connected to the battery via a "nifty" waterproof connection or use the supplied crocodile clips. It will maintain the battery through periods of inac...

Re: Cleaning the dash rubber mat
As Stan suggested and something I have used in the past. Black shoe polish (the type in the metal container) is great for getting a nice sheen on various rubber and black plastic parts.
