Re: 14K4 rebuild questions
Thanks for all the info. Indeed the steel cooling pipe running under the intake manifold is quite rusty on the outside and I would like to change it but I'm having a hard time finding any replacement parts for this - if anyone can share some suppliers I would appreciate. The engine block went to be ...

Re: 14K4 rebuild questions
Thanks for the feedback Evil C. I had the head skimmed and should be ok (the metal seems quite porous though with lots of black spots in the shining new surface - suppose this is due to casting). Regarding the thermostat, someone removed it from the car (they left just the original casing empty...) ...

Re: 14K4 rebuild questions
Thanks John,
Does fitting the SAIC HG mean fitting uprated bolts and oil rail, or can it be mounted with standard bolts and oil rail?
As I have all the engine disassembled and liners out, I'm wondering if the liners need glue or something else to seal on the bottom?
Ricardo

14K4 rebuild questions

Is it better to use the aluminium inlet manifold, or it will not fit the car (can I use the same throttle bo...

Re: Street Wise from Portugal
Thanks for the welcome. I must say that it seems quite uncomplicated mechanics and relatively easy to work with (as compared to modern cars full of electronic stuff - I know as I work at a second-hand car dealership...). Got the engine out completely, disassembled the head, checked valves for cracks...

Street Wise from Portugal
Hi, Just joined the Rover family with the purchase of a 2004 Streetwise 1.4 K16. Many say it's madness, let's see if the reality is as bad as the reputation. Did 200kms on the trip back home when I've picked it up and got scared halfway as the underside was washed in oil on the gearbox side... Not s...
