Post by Brum »

I have a 1993 River 416 1993 and when I turn the wipers off it’s staying on intermittent?

no spark leads you to look at coil, plugs, leads, dizzy, rotor, crank position sensor and proper gaps on plugs (if new).

Pound to a penny it’s the rotor arm!

Cheap fix too so got to be worth a try.

One of my K series engined tourers has a love of rotor arms, the new replcements don't seem to last long I,ve taken to carrying a spare in the car along with a socket to change it. Ironic that in my original tourer which I still have, it's done over 240K on the same one.

Hi thanks for your replies the Rotor arm was replaced not that long ago but the RAC guy did say there was a tiny bit of scoring on it my hubbys just put jump leads on it and it started within 2 seconds even though the battery was showing it had 12.3 charge in it before he put them on it has done this before probably run for a few days and then won’t start again could it be something to do with the relay? The guy at the garage said if it did it again try knocking it?

This is the fuel relay and a very common starting, which often starts with re-starting problems. It sits 'round the back of the centre console by the front passenger's ankles

The MFU is the Multi Function Unit that sits behind the interior fusebox, situated above the driver's shins, which I'm not sure is repairable...

My money's on the relay if it's not the dizzy
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos
