Rover 214 SI - Original Wheel Covers?

Post by IanFarve »

I have a Rover 214 SI, three doors, pre-facelift version (as the image above), that I'm trying to maintain as close as possible to the original. Does anyone know which wheel covers are the original?

The Si 5dr trims were only used from launch of the 3dr until the summer of 91. The 92 model year launched in Autumn 91 upgraded the 214Si 3dr to include rear body colour spoiler, front bumper lower extension and 216GTi wheel trims. If you have a small rear spoiler on the tailgate it should have GTi wheel trims. They are very similar but not the same as the trims found on the Montego GTi, LXi and later Countryman. The difference between the 200 trim and the Montego trim being the Rover badge pressed into the centre.

Thank you for your reply's.

My car has a small rear spoiler like the image above:

Are these the original wheel trims? If not, can you please show me an image?

The trims on the first photo are correct. The second image is of a later 220GSi with alloy wheels.

Interesting! Here's my 214si 3 door. So are we saying the rear spoiler and bumper chin are original? And where would one go about finding these wheel trims for sale?

Yes, rear spoiler, bumper chin extensions and wheel trims are all original. The wheel trims occasionally come up on EBay but they are quite rare. They were only used on the early 216GTi (and most people paid the extra for alloy wheels) and the 214Si 3dr. Similar ones without the Rover badge embossed in the centre come up more frequently as they were used on a number of Montego derivatives.
