After 6 years of ownership I have just sold Murf to a very nice young fella who I know will look after it as I've done.





I bought the car in 2013 from its original owner at 97k miles and it goes approaching 130k. It 'failed to proceed' only once in that time when the immobiliser got confused.

It was on the RCOC stand at the 2014 Classic Motor Show and has been to many club events since then. Now was a good time to sell as it will be garaged and used over the next 2 months whereas it would have been unused if I'd have kept hold.

Hopefully the new owner will be along here shortly to say hi - joining the club was a condition of sale

Don't worry, there are already plans for its replacement in late Jan

Hello all,

I am the incredibly proud new owner of Murf, and what a beautiful car it certainly is.

I have been after a 216 coupe for some time and after messaging every advertiser on Gumtree and Ebay asking about cambelts (and the odd post on here asking the same) I came up blank.

At that point my dad made a post on my behalf on the forum asking if any were available, and the timing just seemed to work for both me and John.

I'll give you all a slight bit of background about me. I'm 21 and currently studying for my masters degree in modern history in Canterbury having graduated with a degree in history in September. I still haven't decided if I'm calling this my graduation present or some masters research! My other car, which I have owned since I passed my test 3 years ago is a Mitsubishi Colt Mirage which has served me well but lacks a certain something which Murf seems to have.

I should hopefully be a reasonably common poster on the fourm (hopefully on rather positive threads!) and intend to keep Murf as is. Hopefully I shall get to know most of you over time and eventually meet some of you as I intend to continue to show Murf.

Massive thanks to John for being so helpful and, or course, for selling Murf to me and thanks in advanced to everyone for all the help and advice I know I shall receive.

I can't seem to attach a photo of me and Murf, perhaps it's because I'm using my phone, but I will be sure to do so as soon as I'm with my laptop.

Congrats on the purchase-John is certainly a man I’d buy a car from!

It's feels great when an idea turns into a good plan and then when any expectations are exceeded it feels even better

I know Murf will be well looked after by Sam, with maybe a little help from his father.

Congrats on the purchase. Had plenty of R8s but never a Coupe. Maybe next year perhaps!

Why thank you, I agree with you about the colour, it certainly sticks out amongst the modern cars it is forced to inhabit the world with!

As for the shows, I'm guessing that the dates and information about them are posted here on the forums well in advance?

I imagine so I’ve not been to any yet as I only joined myself about a month ago.
