FBHVC position on ban on sale of new cars with IC engines from 2030
FBHVC position on ban on sale of new cars with IC engines from 2030
The recent announcement of the pull forward of the ban on the sale of new IC-only (ie petrol and diesel) powered passenger cars from 2035 to 2030 is unlikely to have been missed but here is the FHBVC's statement on it

One nugget is that historic vehicles only contribute 0.2% of the total annual miles driven in the UK - a historic vehicle is defined as one over 30 years old which covers an increasing number of our vehicles.

One did exist, albeit I get the impression it was more of a milk float than a Tesla.
This chap did a piece on it for Keith Adams’ (excellent) website, which alas I cannot find.

I personally disagree with electrifying any old car except the Nissan figaro, because petrol will still be around its not like they are going to ban them and you will loose some of the cars soul

It seems to be a growing trend with more and more companies offering these conversions - Land Rovers, Mazda, MG, Porsche etc
I know what you mean though, I'm not sure if I agree or disagree with it.
It definitely would be a cool conversion and lots of attention at car shows like Pride of Longbridge!

Having a figaro set off like a Tesla would make me grin in the traffic light Grand Prix...*laughs*
It’s just the costs.

I'm in a prize draw at the moment to win an electrified Beetle. I'd be happy to have its running gear transferred to something more worthwhile and then crush the rest

Other than finding space for the batteries a lot of the electric conversion uses things like the original gearbox, if strong enough. So as long as you can get an adapter plate made to mate the two together, the rest is simple (in principle).
Watched them do a fezza 308 the other day £65k wtf!
Ok twice the power and half the 0-60 but still.
