British Motor Museum Heritage Certificates for SD3 and R8 (up to 1990)

Post by GTiJohn »

Nicholas Roughol has spotted that the British Motor Museum is offering Heritage Certificates for Rover 200 Ballade/SD3 and Concerto/R8 built between 1984 and 1990.

You can find them at the bottom of the list, labelled 'British Leyland -B'

You start here - https://certificates.britishmotormuseum ... rtificate/ - and you can find them at the bottom of the list, labelled 'British Leyland -B'.

Has anybody bought one?

We're trying to find the records of cars built after 1990 and hoping that they are still somewhere, rather than lost... :mope

The 'add-ons' are a bit pricey. Not sure how far to go with this. Have to think about it. Are there any particular benefits to having this/these documents?

Well, I should have known you'd share that news over here :laughing2

If anyone orders one for an early R8 (how about the owner of R8 n°1 John, you should convince him of ordering one :)), I'd be interested in that owner sharing a scanned copy with us (redacting all the details out of it of course), so that we know what kind of detailed build information they might have on early R8s.

I ordered a certificate for No.1 and then received a message to say that they don't have build data for the R8 which is disappointing but I am now in correspondence with the "certificate officer" trying to find out what information they do have. He admitted that the website is misleading and he is getting it amended. They do have a very limited number of VIN build dates for "a few of the early cars" but they don't have spec details or dealership delivery details so not enough information to warrant charging £45 for a certificate! He is investigating what information they have. Watch this space.
