Vacuum pipes. now with pic!

Post by Streetboy214GSi »

Hi, I removed the vacuum pipes on my 1992 214 16v thinking I would remember where they went... and I didn't!

Does anyone have a picture of where they are supposed to go?

Will driving it around (just a few short trips) with no pipes have damaged the engine in any way?

Sorry for the foolish question!

Thanks

Which pipes do you mean? Is it a single point or a multipoint injection?
(if you don't know is your air filter rectangular or triangular)

Hi, the filter is triangular.

Its the thin black vacuum pipes which connect around the air filter. I've bought a new length of hose but I haven't a clue where I'm supposed to cut/connect it all... any pictures/diagrams or anything would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks

Hi, got a few of them back in using a haynes manual.

No luck on the pipes from the red arrows which joined together on a t-connector and then onto somewhere else though... any ideas where?

Thanks for any pointers

Its a '92 214 GSi with air-con by the way.

Do you have a Haynes manual for the car? If you do, they will have "underbonnet" photos and they should help.

Hi, I do but unfortunately it has no pictures which show the top of the engine clearly enough.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I have no experience with the SPi versions of the K series (and limited experience with the MPi version, to be honest).

Surely someone on here must have one they can take a piccy of?

As they are vacuum hoses they must connect to the inlet manifold one way or another. If you take off the air filter box you'll probably find the connection either on the manifold itself or maybe on the underside of the filter box.

Hi, there are two connections under the air filter and one on the inlet manifold... its just a matter of working out which ones go where!

According to Haynes, the left arrow is pointing to the purge valve and the right is a charcoal canister.

Running like a bag of old nails since I removed them :( If anyone could have a peek under their bonnet some time it would be a massive help.

Thanks
