New member in Leeds - 420GSI Tourer 1996
Hi Everyone
I’ve just bought a 1996 420GSI Tourer in charcoal grey with the lovely wood/leather/Stratstone fabric interior. It’s done 90,000 miles with full service history and has been sitting on a friend’s drive for nearly 2 years. It needs some TLC but is a solid car with only 4 small rust spots on the bodywork. It has some (too big) MG Z alloys and tyres which run the inner arches on full lock. I do like how they look though. It’s gone for an MOT today - sadly it failed but on expected items - handbrake adjustment, an oil leak (Cam cover gasket, it looks like - hope we can get a replacement) and it’s just over on emissions - service will help it sneak under.
I drove it for the first time today and it’s smashing, no slack in steering or suspension and that engine pulls like a train! Feels like a 20,000 mile car!
The car joins my 1981 XR3 (6 year restoration completed 5 years ago) and a Mercedes 420SE (1990 S-Class) which I’m a year off finishing.
Anyway, hope to meet done of you soon and show you my (improving) tourer - there will shortly be 15 of them on “how many left”!

Be great to meet anyone local and have a good nosey at their 200/400! I’m having an op in late august and need to isolate from 10 days before so September probably best for me for any meet ups.
Paul - I see you used to have a 420GSI tourer - what happen to that one?
