XW All Round Discs

Post by Kriss707 »

Following on from the 45 disc upgrade on the boys car .....

I'm looking to upgrade my discs on the Cabbie to grooved & drilled all round.

This is where the confusion starts ... Are the R8 262mm vented front & 239mm solid rear all the same on whatever model variant ?

I ask because looking on eBay the sellers say Rover Coupe 262mm & 239mm in the listing, but when you enter 1998 Rover Coupe or Cabriolet in the 'dropboxes' it says not compatible & when I put in 1993 Cabriolet, which donated its rear disc set-up, it also says not compatible (Is this just their lack of knowledge or is it mine thinking they're all the same through the range ?

I know the fronts are deeper on the R8 (47mm) & the R3 (44mm), I know this as I bought the wrong ones when I first got the car & they hit the carriers :laughing2

All R8 front, vented discs are one size, similarly R8 solid rear discs.

Parts catalogues get their knickers in a twist because they both were fitted when ALB/ABS was specified as an option.

So, if you specified ABS on a K1.4 or a non-turbo diesel you'd be upgraded from solid front discs and rear drums to vented front/ solid rear discs, whereas D1.6 or a turbo diesel you would just get the rear upgrade.
I like Twin Cams.... and Single Cams...and now Turbos

I know there's technically no 'upgrade' in performance with them, but being an old boy racer they will look nice through the wheels when the car is at shows :D
