Its a shame, because even at todays standards they still dont look out of place on the road. Cars nowadays arent very nice, yet mine turns heads after 15 years and its a nice feeling :D

Do you guys have any sort of register that keeps track of what the members of the club own?

That might be worth doing as the numbers get smaller and smaller.

There is the 220 GTi/GSi and 420 Turbos register, and also all the details of members cars.

I still see loads of wedges knocking around. The XR4i style coupes (sorry, not sure of the model name!) seem to be rare now though, I guess they've all been boy racered into lamposts!

I bet the wedges have a pretty damn good survival rate compared to other cars of the age... when was the last time you saw a K-reg orion or ashtray?

If you are involved in the motor trade you can pay the DVLA for the data and they will give you a breakdown of how many are left for each model, right down to GTi, SLi, etc, etc.

Some of us here will be familiar with the figures for Maestros and Montegos, which I suspect exaggerate the numbers because many cars get scrapped or taken off the road with paperwork being filled in correctly. This is particularly true of racecars that were taken off the road when they were relatively new before SORN was introduced.

I think he means 3-dr hatches, not the 2-dr Tomcat Coupe.

The pillar through the rear window looks like the design used by Ford on the early Sierra XR4i - which itself was styled on a Porsche 928.
