Hi everybody,
Following on from the “Common faults for our cars” - I understand that the fuel relay can be replaced by a pattern part- or at least one that doesn’t come from Rimmers- does anyone know what can be used as a replacement, please?
Cheers
Mark

If you search for 'Honda fuel relay' or ' Honda Civic fuel relay' on ebay you'll usually find a few pattern parts aka Chinese copies.
It's handy to have one as spare or fitted while you have your original one re-soldered.

I like Twin Cams, Single Cams, Turbos and 5-cam VVCs

Re: Fuel relay for the Honda 1.6 D series engine
The best search is "Honda CRX main relay" as the CRX MK 2 had the D16A6 engine which was simply named the D16Z2 for inclusion in the Rover 216 variant of the R8 series.
You should see the name "RZ00063" on the replacement relays. Check that the connector key looks central to the pins on one side (the latch mechanism for the wiring loom plug). Later cars had the key off to one side by 1 pin.
These used to ne cheap, but the prices have gone up considerably in the last year or so.
It does make me wonder whether buying one of these (which would be a low-ish grade Chinese replica part) would be worth it over buying a part from Rimmer Bros.

On our Honda engined R8s I fixed faulty relays by popping them open an resoldering every joint that I could and they were back to full fitness
