216 cabriolet
216 cabriolet
Is there a Haynes manual that covers a 98 cabby? (Or equivalent). I just bought one that only goes up to n reg, but it all seems totally different.

Most things will be the same as it's a runout R8 with the bubble dash? The hood hydraulics are covered in the Rover workshop manual.
Depending on build date [ as opposed to date of first registration ] the car *may* be fitted with the later front hubs/disks. Still 262 mm but the 'top hat' dimension differs I believe.
If you're interested there is a published work on the R8 production run; titled 'Rover R8' written by James Taylor, published by Amberly Press, ISBN 978-1-3981-0121-0.
Last Cabby was produced in Summer 1998 the book doesn't mention the disks, just the ALB/ABS options.

Thank you so much - I have ordered the book now - delivered tomorrow. I am currently trying to work on the bodywork, but the hood will need some work at some point. How can I get the Rover Workshop manual?

well......the hood itself seems fine, although doesn't seem to fit squarely, but locks on fine. The inner hood is a bit of a mess; can the inner hood be replaced seperately? I can see there is a funny shaped bolt broken in the mechanism - i think its the hood link arm,
thanks

If you join the club as a full member you will be able to download a pdf version of the Rover workshop manuals from the Members Area of the website.

Well, you've come to the right place to mention that! It's undoubtedly the part that one of our enterprising members
(961tat) has had remanufactured. No doubt he'll be along as soon as he logs on.

The shilling for parts is strong on this thread, *laughs*.
Forgotten what mine needs now.

Yes head liner can be replaced from inside and I do have the link arms they break usually because the side bracket that goes up to the rear window moves in and out when the hood goes up and down and this seizes up so if you do get one make sure all is free first otherwise it will break again bit of a fail safe I would say and off course there the age related issue also ,robkeep wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 7:42 pmwell......the hood itself seems fine, although doesn't seem to fit squarely, but locks on fine.
