Honda Engine 216 Oil In Plug wells

Post by don_kim »

Hello - My wife's 216 (15300 miles on the clock)! developed a misfire which turned out to be oil in the no 2 plug well which had pushed the plug lead out. The others had oil in as well but not so much. Surprised it ran with everything under oil. I've met this on my K series Rover 75 which has a special sealant spread over the camshaft carrier which leaked. I've searched this site but not found anything - maybe I'm not looking right. Looking in the manual there are o rings under the cam bearing / rocker assembly "posts" which seems to be straightforward to swop. Trouble is I'm not able to find any to buy. Could be I've not got the right name / description and I prefer them to hand before I start. Please can anyone put me in the right direction. Thanks

That link takes you to another thread on our forum about a fix.

The simplified version of that thread is 'buy and fit these parts' - https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/car-par ... 301-detail :cool

Good luck :thumbup

No sealant on the honda engine. The gaskets are commonly available on eBay just make sure you get one with the four circle plug seals (not just the other gasket)

Hello. I've checked out the links but the engine top cover gasket sets appear to have the four seals that fit the top of the plug holes - ie underneath the cover. They do not seem to be "o" rings or have I got this wrong. I'm after the o rings that fit underneath the rocker shaft mounting posts or is it the same thing? Thanks.

Well the first part was a doddle. Just got to see about fitting them now. I'm happy doing the more mechanical stuff but engine work does put me off..... but we'll see.

Cheers info and guidance.
