Sound Insulation in a R3

Post by Topcat Tomcat »

I’m not sure if I’ve asked this before ( :blushing ), but I found this behind the rear liners in my 200iS

I assumed that a previous owner had shoved it in there, but I’m beginning to wonder if it was fitted in the factory?

That is factory fitted. You will find it in many R3s.

Oh Poo. I thought it was something bodged by a previous owner and sent it to the local Energy from Waste plant. :oops

I will have think about what to replace it with! I do have a load of those air filled plastic pouches used for packing delicate items, but they will probably deflate eventually and trap moisture?

Something else to consider! :slapme

Plenty of R3s out there are still being scrapped: I am sure you will be able to find secondhand original insulation bags :wink3

They must be in demand. I’ve contacted three people and they’ve all been sold. It’ll probably be easier just to do my own!

There are better sound insulation options than what came out of the factory.
