Body repairs.

Post by boxermanrt »

I'm in need of a good company that is conversant with the R8 platform. I've been let down by a local restorer who was going to fit new sills and arch closures. I took the car to him on the appointed date only to get a call later in the day informing me there needed to be 40 hrs welding done and he didn't want to get Involved in another time consuming job. I'm prepared to travel and deliver the car anywhere, my problem is the MOT runs out in late Feb and once it's lapsed I won't be able to drive the car.
There's no rush on getting the car back (within reason) all I want is a good job done..!!

Please message me if you can help..!!

You can drive a motor vehicle without a current M.O.T.to the "nearest" M.O.T Station (within reason) as long as it is pre-booked.

So even if the car repairs take longer to complete and the M.O.T. runs out, you (or the body repairer) can then drive it to somewhere local to the bodyshop.

Where are you based? I used Gilbert Michaelson (they do the demos at the NEC classic car show). Very reasonable and o was pleased with the work they did on my roof. Wakefield based.

I can PM you some details of a couple of companies I've used in the West Midlands (actually about 15 miles wets of Birmingham) but I think this is way too far out for you.
